I would like to kick off the new year with the announcement of an initiative I am very excited about: The VietAI project. AI is becoming such a powerful technological driver of economic developments that any country who has a strong foundation in AI will have significant advantages in the global competitive scene. Luong Minh Thang and I cofounded VietAI, a non-profit org, with the desire to build thriving communities of capable AI developers in Vietnam to help us leapfrog and catch up with other AI powerhubs in the world. We are starting out with bringing AI courses from Silicon Valley back to Vietnam and partnering with various reputable institutions such as John von Neumann to train the next waves of AI talents there.

This is a long-term and challenging project but with potentially significant impact. As the first step, we want to build out a solid VietAI team 😃 So if you are passionate about education and/or AI and interested in lending us a hand, please share fill out the form below or help us spread the words.

Our plan
In the first phase, we offer AI courses to a selected group of talents so they can become AI leaders in Vietnam, which we hope to help us further train more and more talents. Our mentors, which are world-class experts in AI, can help teach, advise, and inspire students. In the second phase, we connect our students to challenging projects so that they can put their skills into practice. We will also provide technical guidance and computational support. Our goal with VietAI is to create world-class AI labs in Vietnam.

PhD in Computer Science from Stanford. Author of 20+ highly-cited scientific articles and various open-sourced codebases to build state-of-the-art machine translation systems.

Thuc Vu, PhD
Cofounder/CEO at OhmniLabs. Serial entrepreneur, sold multiple companies including one to Google. AI and algorithms expert, robotics enthusiast. PhD in Computer Science from Stanford. Social entrepreneur in Vietnam, involved in many community projects.
